The event will feature a 45-minute moderated panel followed by a 45-minute break-out session during which you can join the discussion! The session will be moderated by Linda Rossetti, MBA 1991, an expert on transition and its impact on individuals and organizations.


About Our Panelists

Melanie Collins joined Dropbox in 2015 and is the Chief People Officer overseeing the company's global human resources function including talent acquisition, learning & organizational development, total rewards, HR Business Partners, operations, and diversity, equity, and inclusion. Prior to Dropbox she held HR leadership roles at Apple and GE. Melanie holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Finance from Bentley University and a Master of Science (MS) in Organizational Development at the University of San Francisco.

Kara Helander is a Managing Director and Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer at The Carlyle Group. Prior to joining Carlyle, Ms. Helander was a Managing Director at BlackRock, where she led the firm’s global inclusion and diversity, and philanthropy initiatives. Harvard Business School profiled those efforts she directed in the case study, “BlackRock: Diversity as a Driver of Success”. More recently, Ms. Helander consulted with organizations to develop corporate social responsibility and diversity strategies. She founded the Science of Diversity and Inclusion (SODI), a coalition of top companies and behavioral scientists working to design and test new approaches to accelerate diversity and inclusivity in the workplace.

Dr. Deborah Stroman, is an educator at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her instructional focus and experience lie in the leadership domains of Equity, Entrepreneurship, and Sport Business. As a former NCAA DI athlete and coach, Stroman leans on athletic principles (e.g., creativity, teamwork, and clear and measurable goals) in the promotion of both the analysis and understanding of the process for institutional change. Deborah has more than three decades of extensive experience working with senior administrators, faculty, staff, students, and alumni on leadership and equity issues. As an entrepreneur, she provides race and racism strategic consulting and education to numerous organizations including the National Institutes of Health, R1 academic institutions, Fortune 100, and non-profits. In addition, Dr. Stroman is the founder of the Center of Sport Business and Analytics, which is purposed to connect with and advocate for people and organizations creating equity, impact, and value in the sport industry.
